Ben’s music career started with taking on his mother’s blown out harmonicas at an early age. Since graduating in music at Dartington College of Arts in 1977 he has worked in music theatre (on the professional stage and national radio), community arts projects, occupational therapy and instrumental tutoring.
Since qualifying as a teacher at what is now Bath Spa University he has worked for Devon Music Service as a Viola/Violin teacher and now works as a Music Development Lead with schools specialising in Strings development and Music Tech.
He has also studied Informal Learning in Music for an M Ed through Plymouth MarJon University.
Much of his work has obliged him to work in a number of music genres from Classical to Blues. He is a founding member of one of the country’s most in demand ceilidh bands “Spinach for Norman” https://spinachfornorman.com/ .
Exploring and learning never stops so he is currently developing his skills in Bluegrass, composing resources for young players which he combines with music production.
